Behind the Scenes of the Ivy and Aster Bridal Ad Campaign

Last month I posted about shooting the Ivy and Aster Runway show during New York Bridal Week back in September.  Following the show and a successful and extremely busy bridal market we all retired to our separate corners to prepare for the advertising campaign shoot.  A few weeks later Jessica Brown, the designer and mastermind behind Ivy and Aster, and Megan Lawrence, her right hand woman flew back to NYC for the shoot. The key to a successful project is in the planning.  Step one: a strong team, where everyone motivates one another to excel and create something beautiful.  It only made sense that I should reach out to two incredibly talented artists whom I trust (and am lucky enough to also call friends): Ananda Kahn and Julianna Grogan as the hair and makeup artists, respectively.  Step two: communication.  In addition to their technical talent and versatility I wanted to work with Ananda and Julianna because I knew they understood the brand's sensibility and that they would be able to enhance Jessica's aesthetic and help bring her collection to life, so connections were made all around.  Bringing them in during the planning was crucial, they brought incredible ideas to the table (and who doesn't love a good mood board?) and we all spent the weeks leading up to the shoot furiously sending inspiration images back and forth across Pinterest.  By the time we walked on set not only had the team had a chance to get acquainted and share insight and inspiration, but we also had a plan of attack that could withstand even the strangest of UPS delivery failures.  Our model was the lovely Sigrun Eva of Wilhelmina New York.  Jessica had used her on previous shoots as well as during the runway show and knew from the beginning that Sigrun was the right face for the campaign.  Check back in a couple days for the collection images (or my website if you're feeling impatient).

Here is a look behind the scenes at the day.
