Tales of Bridal Fashion Week: Gemy Maalouf Runway Show
Bridal Fashion Week is in full swing here in New York. And as a novel change this season, I got an invite to attend one of the shows. I spent my first few years shooting the seasonal runway shows and presentations at NYFW and it's still a pleasant change of pace to attend one as a guest. So I arrived yesterday afternoon at the PHD Downtown Rooftop for the Gemy Maalouf Spring 2018 show and picked my champagne and my spot and settled in for the show.
I'd certainly heard of Gemy Maalouf before but there's a difference between seeing her designs online and watching them come to life in person. The gowns are stunning, obviously, but like most things in fashion, movement shows off the real magic. This collection offers options from the highly structured to the delicate slip-dress. And while there were certainly nods to some of the fall shows' most enduring trends, the collection was a cohesive presentation of romantic fantasy made of lace, embroidery, beading and stunning construction.
Here's my view from the front row and the presentation that followed. I hope you enjoy.
